A quick visit to London this weekend was exactly what I needed.
Yesterday I jumped on the train and headed to London for the evening where I was to meet my grandparents who are in the UK visiting this week doing a theatre tour. After a 3hour journey north east on the train and tube I finally made it to the Royal Horse guard Hotel in London where my grandparents were staying. It was beautiful! Quite possibly the nicest hotel I had ever been in 🙂
From the hotel the three of us caught a cab to Shoreditch where we met up with my cousin Maddy and her boyfriend for lunch and a stroll around town. It was a bone chilling day but lovely none the less; we had an amazing time! After lots of walking we went back to Maddys place for a cup of tea and to warm up before braving the cold once more to go for a Thai dinner.
Following dinner the grandparents decided it had been a long day so they retired to their hotel and Maddy and I headed back to her place for a drink at the pub next door and to hang out before I went to bed.
This morning I got up and returned to the hotel where my grandparents were to have breakfast with them and go for a walk around Trafalgar Square and the theatres near by.
It was a short but sweet trip and I am unbelievably happy to have been able to spend time with them while they were on this side of the pond 🙂
London is growing on me more and more and is quickly becoming one of my favourite cities 🙂
Until next time
Well I’m back at it again. After a nice (but way too short) visit home with the family for Christmas I have returned to Exeter.
I’ve been back for 2.5 weeks and time is already flying by. Things are crazy busy with getting back into having to study and for me read (a lot), but I love it here and can’t complain.
The first week back was a little difficult being again away from home and realising with will be 7 months before my return to Canada; however, surrounded by my friends it wasn’t all that bad.
We went out to celebrate Harriet’s birthday on the 11th (this youngster turned 19 finally)! With a big meal and dessert to follow it was great to be able to spend some time with the girls + Matt to celebrate after all being apart for such a long time.
That following Wednesday I returned in full force to going back to the tennis socials to spend time with all the other tennis club members I’ll be traveling to Spain with in April! That was a lot of fun, although freezing as it poured rain like I’ve never seen it that evening.
And having spent a quiet weekend in this past weekend we all attended Alys’s superhero themed fundraiser on Monday night to help raise funds for her climb of Mount Kilimanjaro with Hope For Children this summer.
I’m very much looking forward for this up coming weekend as my grandparents are in London right now and I get to see them on Friday (pictures and tales to come)!
This semester is another start to an already amazing experience.
